Dottie Mae was lost on 8 May 1945, the last day of the European war, during a low pass over liberated Ebensee. The aircraft was recovered from Lake Traun a decade later and restored to airworthy condition. Corgi's diecast version reproduces the camouflage scheme and the Republic 28RA markings carried by this aircraft.
