Corgi P-38J Lightning 'Virginia Marie' 1:72 Diecast Model Aircraft - AA36618

This is a Corgi Aviation Archive 1:72 scale diecast model of the Lockheed P-38J Lightning 'Virginia Marie', a USAF twin-engine fighter from the Second World War.

About this model

The model reproduces the distinctive progressive paint scheme applied to "Virginia Marie" by the ground crew of the 433rd Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group, at Hollandia Airfield in 1944. According to pilot Carroll R. Anderson, the markings were built up over several weeks using the squadron's medium blue identification colour, with the final details added while the Group Commander was away from base. It was the only Lightning in the squadron to carry its full intended scheme.

The diecast model arrives fully assembled with rotatable propellers and comes supplied in a cradle with a display base and a limited edition certificate.
