About this model
This replica depicts the Spitfire LF Mk IXE as flown by 127 Wing, 443 Squadron RCAF, based in Belgium in 1945. The squadron had moved from a home defence role over Newfoundland and Nova Scotia to operations over Normandy, Arnhem and Nijmegen before supporting the final push into Germany in early 1945, flying sorties against factories, railways and retreating German forces.
The model features the clipped square wingtips of the later E type wing, finished in dark grey and dark green upper camouflage with pale grey undersides. Black and white invasion stripes appear on the wings and fuselage, with RCAF roundels and red, white and blue tail stripes. The squadron's Hornets insignia is printed forward of the cockpit, alongside the 21T squadron code and a yellow leading edge stripe on the wings. Tyres are finished in matt black with silver hubs.
