PRODUCT INFO
This is a Corgi 1:72 scale diecast model of a Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, finished as the aircraft flown by Pilot Officer William 'Billy' Fiske of RAF No.601 Squadron during the Battle of Britain.
About this model
The model forms part of the Battle of Britain 85th Anniversary collection and is presented in a camouflage livery with a blue nose marking, consistent with No.601 Squadron aircraft of the period. It includes crew figures and rotatable propellers, and is finished to Corgi's usual diecast standard of detail.
Billy Fiske was an American who had already won Olympic bobsleigh gold twice before joining the RAF in August 1939. He flew with No.601 Squadron from Tangmere and was killed on 17th August 1940, a day after his squadron engaged Junkers Ju-87 Stukas attacking the airfield, following a crash landing in his damaged Hurricane.
