PRODUCT INFO
This is the Corgi Douglas AC-47 Gunship 'Spooky 086' in 1:72 scale, a diecast model aircraft finished in Commemorative Air Force markings.
About this model
The AC-47 Gunship was a fire support platform that served during the Vietnam War, able to loiter over a battlefield and concentrate fire from the air. This particular aircraft, operated by the CAF's Texas-based Gulf Coast Wing, was originally built as a C-47B in 1944 and later flew with the US Navy as an R4D-6, before being converted to represent an airborne gunship some 25 years after it was built.
The 'Spooky 086' codes carried by this aircraft do not represent a specific wartime airframe. They instead commemorate 86 individual AC-47 crew members who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.
