About this model

The Fiat G55 Centauro was one of the more capable Italian single-engine fighters of WWII, built in limited numbers of just 275 aircraft but able to hold its own against Allied fighters at altitude. This replica commemorates Captain Giovanni Bonet, who commanded the Montefusco Squadra and was lost in combat against USAAF Boeing B-17s in spring 1944.

The model is finished in dark green and earth brown camouflage over light grey undersides, with Italian national flags on the fuselage and tail fins and the squadron codes Cantauro Serie 1 MM 91147 in blue and yellow. Black and white fasces symbols appear on the upper and lower wing surfaces, a marking carried over from Roman tradition that the ANR applied to its G55s. The propeller spinner is finished in black and white with yellow-tipped blades, and the exhaust pipes are painted in a rusty brown. The aircraft is presented in flying configuration without landing gear and comes with a display stand.
