This particular aircraft, operated by the CAF's Texas-based Gulf Coast Wing, was originally built as a C-47B in 1944 and later flew with the US Navy as an R4D-6, before being converted to represent an airborne gunship some 25 years after it was built.

The 'Spooky 086' codes carried by this aircraft do not represent a specific wartime airframe. They instead commemorate 86 individual AC-47 crew members who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.

Specifications

Brand: Corgi

Scale: 1:72

Aircraft type: C-47 Skytrain

Air force: USAF

Era: WW2

Category: Diecast Models

Common questions

What scale is this model?

It is built to 1:72 scale.

Is this a specific aircraft that served in Vietnam?

No. The markings are a tribute scheme, representing 86 AC-47 crew members killed in Vietnam rather than one individual aircraft's service history.

Does this model require assembly?

No, this is a presentation diecast model, supplied ready for display.

https://www.hangarmodels.co.uk/products/corgi-douglas-ac-47-gunship-spooky-086-commemorative-air-force-diecast-model-scale-1-72-aa38212b
